Accenture Acquisition of SYSTEMA Strengthens Manufacturing Automation for Semiconductor Clients

Accenture Acquisition of SYSTEMA marks a significant step in advancing manufacturing automation for semiconductor producers across Europe. The strategic purchase of SYSTEMA, a Dresden-based specialist in software solutions and consulting for industrial automation, will deepen Accenture’s ability to support the semiconductor and high-tech sectors.

In today’s digital economy, semiconductors are vital for products ranging from consumer electronics to automotive systems. However, Europe’s semiconductor production facilities still rely on legacy equipment, posing efficiency challenges. Therefore, the Accenture Acquisition of SYSTEMA is positioned to address these gaps through sophisticated automation solutions.

SYSTEMA’s Expertise Bolsters Semiconductor Manufacturing

SYSTEMA has extensive experience connecting both modern and legacy production assets. Its solutions enable manufacturers to optimise processes, such as material flow and machine transitions, which are often manual. By integrating advanced analytics and upgrading manufacturing execution systems (MES), SYSTEMA empowers clients to boost output and reduce operational costs.

Accenture Expands Industry X Practice

Sarat Maitin, who heads Accenture’s digital engineering and manufacturing practice for Industry X in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, emphasised that combining SYSTEMA’s specialist skills with Accenture’s global scale will deliver comprehensive services across the value chain. This includes supply, logistics and manufacturing operations.

Christina Raab, Market Unit Lead for Accenture in Austria, Switzerland and Germany, highlighted Europe’s commitment to strengthening semiconductor production. She noted that SYSTEMA’s proven expertise is pivotal to maintaining competitiveness in a market facing intense global pressures.

Broader Industry Impact Beyond Semiconductors

Beyond semiconductors, SYSTEMA brings capabilities relevant to the aerospace, defence, medical, electronics, automotive and chemicals sectors. Its team of over 240 specialists will now join Accenture’s Industry X practice, strengthening the company’s position in industrial IT/OT integration.

SYSTEMA’s CEO, Manfred Austen, expressed confidence that the merger will enable both firms to innovate at scale. Leveraging Accenture’s strengths in data, AI, and engineering, they aim to deliver transformative automation solutions while maintaining the trust of longstanding clients.

While the financial details remain undisclosed, this acquisition aligns with Accenture’s commitment to expanding its digital manufacturing and automation capabilities. In contrast to organic growth alone, this strategic move enhances the firm’s ability to help European manufacturers adapt to technological change.
